Meet John — Sydney cycling tragic, serial early-morning commuter, and the guy who decided “if no one’s going to make the right short, I’ll make it myself.”
John wanted one pair of shorts he could ride hard in every day, lock up the bike, and walk straight into real life without looking like he was still in kit.
So he started pulling the problem apart: comfort in the saddle, movement in traffic, toughness in all weather, pockets that actually work.
To get it right, he leaned on people who know — a designer for European pro cyclists — and teamed up with trusted, proven manufacturers using serious Italian performance materials, not fashion fabric.
That’s how L’étape Cycliste was born. Gear made by someone who actually rides to work, in real conditions, in real cities. It’s not about looking pro. It’s about riding every day and loving it.
We are currently still in the design and test phase for a womens commuter short version and are hoping to have these available early 2026.

Machine wash cold using mild detergent, inside-out, separately or with similar items. Do Not Tumble Dry. Do Not Iron or Dry Clean.

Yes — we want you to love your L’étape Cycliste gear. You can return or exchange an item for any reason within 30 days of receiving it, provided it’s unworn, unwashed, and in its original condition.

Who pays for return shipping?
If the item is faulty or we’ve made an error, we’ll cover the cost. Otherwise, customers are responsible for return postage.
